An Agniveer’s salary starts at about ₹30,000 per month, which increases each year of service. They also receive risk and hardship allowances as per their posting. At the end of four years, each Agniveer is entitled to a Seva Nidhi package of around ₹11–12 lakhs (tax-free). This amount is a combination of their contribution and a matching government contribution, making it a strong financial foundation for their future.
No, Agniveers are not entitled to a pension like regular soldiers. Instead, they receive the Seva Nidhi corpus at the end of their service. Along with this, they also get priority in recruitment for CAPF, state police, and other government services, plus recognition in private sector jobs. The idea is to provide financial support and career opportunities rather than long-term pension obligations.
